On October 23rd, we had the pleasure of welcoming high-school students from X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Dwujęzyczne im. Lecha Bądkowskiego in Gdańsk to our laboratory at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG & MUG as part of the „Nauka to My. MeetUp” programme organized by Hevelianum!
The visit began with a talk by Prof. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak who introduced the students to our research on immunology and intercellular communication.
During the hands-on laboratory workshops, students had the opportunity to:
🧬 learn the basics of genotyping and perform agarose gel electrophoresis, including sample loading and visualization of the results,
🧬explore advanced research techniques, including 3D skin models, and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA),
🧬take their first steps in bioinformatics during computer-based exercises.
It was a great opportunity to introduce young science enthusiasts to everyday laboratory work and show them how experimental and computational approaches complement each other in modern biotechnology.
Thank you to all the students for their curiosity and engagement, and to Hevelianum for organizing this initiative!
