We are pleased to share our recent publication on organotypic skin models for atopic dermatitis (AD), developed in collaboration with leading experts in the field of dermatological research and published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that has traditionally been studied using mouse models. In this review, we discuss the growing role of organotypic AD skin models, highlighting their advantages, current limitations, and future opportunities for improving their translational value. As the field moves toward more human-relevant and ethically responsible research approaches, these advanced models are becoming increasingly important tools for studying AD mechanisms and developing therapeutic strategies.
